One of our all-around best performing ice melt products is our ComboTherm deicer. This premium ice melt blend is comprised of 70% calcium chloride – the most available in any ice melt chemical on the market. By heating ice and snow on contact, you will see faster results with this mix than a typical rock salt mixture.
Rock salt mixes can do a good job of melting snow and ice so long as the temperature doesn’t drop below 20 degrees. Past that point, you may not see much performance from the salt. ComboTherm, however, is extremely effective all the way to -25 degrees! The average temperature in Maryland in January (our coldest month) is mid- to low-twenties, but Lord knows we get MUCH colder temps than that on several days a month. If you’re counting on just a rock salt mix for a deicer, you may find yourself with a product that isn’t working as well as you would like. Adding ComboTherm to your arsenal of deicers can give you a much broader temperature range that you can work within for snow and ice management.
Another unique characteristic of ComboTherm is the green indicators that are in the mix. These little chips start out green to help you maintain a visual on how much deicer you’re spreading and where you’ve applied it. As the ComboTherm starts melting the snow and ice, these green chips fade to clear and blend in with the hard surface.
