Winter can come suddenly and without warning. Do you remember winter storm Jonas, or Stormzilla as some people called it? Jonas arrived in January 2016 and dumped over 35 inches of snow from Philomont to Stephens city. Alexandria was buried in 19 inches, and D.C. roadways were crippled by a rush hour snowfall. According to Weather Underground, until Jonas record snowfalls were closer to 30 inches than 40.

Why remind you about snowplows now during the dog days of summer? There are a couple of good reasons why now is the time. Assuming you stored your plow correctly and indoors, now is a good time to look it over. Has it lost any of its fluids? If it has, find out where & why the fluid leaked & fix it now. Check the parts you greased or oiled in the spring and the rest of your machine for rust. Preventative maintenance is less expensive than a repair.
