We can all agree that photos and videos of ‘snow fails‘ and funny snow removal stories can entertain us, but we also know that having the right snow removal products and ice melt can be imperative in times of real need. Flashback to 2014, Atlanta snowpocalypse… queue the dramatic theme music…
Motorists by the thousands were stranded for hours, some for days, as an ‘epic snow jam’ brought the entire city into gridlock. Reports began to pour in and calls for assistance were made as people found themselves trapped on the roadside. Sandy Springs police officer Tim Sheffield made a stop to check on a vehicle at the roadside and quickly learned that the occupants were trying to deliver a baby. Mother and father were handling the impending birth as best as possible, but Officer Sheffield arrived just in time to provide an extra pair of hands as the baby girl was delivered. The best part? The baby girl born that day to the Anderson’s also arrived on what just happened to be Officer Sheffield’s birthday!
The Atlanta snow also brought about many comedic sketches, including the now infamous Buford Calloway skit on Saturday Night Live in which “Buford Calloway (Taran Killam) reveals how he survived the snowstorm that crippled Atlanta with a whole two inches of snow: preemptively killing his neighbor, drinking Coke and holing up in his white Escalade until the sun came out. [Season 39, 2014]”
Atlanta was ill-prepared to handle the snow and resulting days of gridlock. At Snow & Ice Salt & Chemicals Unlimited, we are always open and fully stocked with snow removal tools and ice melt for Maryland, DC, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania and West Virginia snow removal companies. Keep enjoying the funny or interesting snow removal stories caused by folks who aren’t properly supplied, but contact us to make sure YOU don’t end up as one of them!
